SACRED

Religious architecture provides for the people. Places of worship remain both visible and functional and have been for centuries.

With the development of their surroundings and changes in the modern urban environment, religious buildings have stayed, as they not only belong to the people who worship them, but to the communities they anchor.

The city of Penang is host to multiple religions and caters for regular worshippers attending their daily rituals while the chaos of a buzzing city lives on in its surroundings.

Despite incredible respect in numbers by the people, religious and traditional structures are threatened by the developing world. The fight against capitalism, nature, and the growth of population looms large, challenging the sacred locations.
